Upkeep of rural infrastructure
The Panchayat Raj Engineering Division (PRED), Chitradurga, is a key wing of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department. It is tasked with planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining critical rural infrastructure to uplift the living standards of citizens in the district.
The administrative, technical, and financial powers are hierarchical to maintain accountability. The Executive Engineer (EE) heads the division, holding administrative and financial power to approve technical estimates up to ₹10 Lakhs at the division level and serving as the tender accepting authority for works up to ₹50 Lakhs.
Each taluk is led by an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) for localized project execution and monitoring.
